WWE’s Bianca Belair Eperiences Horrific Racist Comments, And Fellow Stars Come To Her Support

WWE superstars have rallied around Bianca Belair after she received terrible racist abuse on social media.

The former world champion, also known as the EST, has made history by being the first black female cover star for the company’s long-running video game franchise, appearing alongside Rhea Ripley on the new deluxe edition of WWE 2K24.

Despite her already Hall of Fame-worthy career, some online trolls have taken offense at seeing a woman of color on the cover of a video game.

Thankfully, loyal fans have risen against the abuse, restoring some hope in mankind, and many of Bianca’s co-stars have spoken out in her support.

Rhea spearheaded the charge on X, writing: ‘EST ain’t just a nickname… @BiancaBelairWWE is a history maker, a trailblazer, and one of the finest persons that you will ever meet.

‘Y’all just mad that she’s better than you 💁🏻‍♀️ #EST’

Other stars have endorsed the three-time women’s champion, who won the Royal Rumble and made history as the first black woman to headline WrestleMania in 2020 alongside Sasha Banks, and praised her as a person and talent.

Becky Lynch tweeted, “One of the best flagbearers we have in WWE.” This woman sleeps very little since she is so dedicated to her work. Her work ethic is exceptional, yet her personality and heart extend beyond that. @BiancaBelairWWE is certainly one of a kind!

Zelina Vega praised her as ‘one of the best this business and WORLD has ever seen’, citing her work ethic and role as a ‘road paver, and someone who is actually a proud embodiment of her culture’.

‘She deserves everything she’s gotten and MORE. She EARNED the name EST,’ Zelina added. ‘The “fans” that took part in the blatant disrespect and hate towards her and other black men and women should be ashamed and embarrassed.

‘It’s disgusting. But your hate will never EVER dim their shine. We love you B. You continue to be an inspiration to all of us.’

Alexa Bliss used the hashtag #WeLoveBianca, Dakota Kai called her ‘a real one’, and Cody Rhodes, who is on the cover of WWE 2K24’s standard version, retweeted a post touting Bianca’s inclusion in the game, adding: ‘E S T’.

WWE legend and producer Shane Helms, also known as The Hurricane, wrote, ‘Anybody hating on Bianca may suck my whole butt.’

And former world champion Big E, who is still out of action after breaking his neck in March 2022, tweeted: ‘The black ladies in our industry experience a regular assault of prejudice and misogyny from “fans.”

And have for far too long. You cannot dim their brilliance. You can’t remove their contributions to this industry.

Piper Niven, a former tag champion, claimed that social media ‘upsets’ her at times, equating it to instant messaging in the past.

‘I realised social media is just this generations msn and suddenly peoples opinions didn’t affect me the same,’ she said. ‘And with that in mind it’s my opinion that Bianca Belair is one of the greatest talents of this generation and if you don’t agree that’s your opinion but maybe also you’re just a dafty.’

Bianca recently expressed her delight at being included on the WWE 2K24 cover, emphasizing the importance of individuals seeing themselves in their heroes.

‘My primary aim, goal, and motivation has always been representation. “That has been at the forefront of everything I’ve done,” she told USA TODAY Sports. ‘Women and young girls who look like me may look at this cover and see representation and know that it is achievable for them.
