Nick Sheridan, A BBC Scotland Presenter, Passed Suddenly After A Short Illness

Nick Sheridan of BBC Scotland died at the age of 32 after a short illness.

BBC Scotland reported Nick’s death on social media, along with a tribute from its Head of News and Current Affairs, Gary Smith, who said: “Nick has been a wonderful colleague.” He was an incredibly skilled journalist, broadcaster, and author, as well as one of those unique individuals who brighten the lives of those around them.

“Funny, intelligent, and compassionate. A gorgeous man.

First Minister Humza Yousaf also paid tribute at the opening of his weekly question session in the Scottish Parliament chamber, calling him as a “extremely talented journalist and author”.

He said, “Our hearts go out to his parents, partner, and all of his family and friends.

“He’ll be deeply missed. Many of us in this chamber will have been vigorously questioned by Nick, whether on BBC Drivetime or any of the other programmes he hosted.

“My thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues. They will surely have a very sad day.”

Sheridan was from Wexford, Ireland, and had worked in broadcasting for over ten years. He joined BBC Scotland in 2018 and has presented a variety of shows, including Reporting Scotland, Drivetime, the Nine, and Seven Days.

He recently resigned his BBC staff position to create children’s books, although he continues to work as a frequent freelance presenter on BBC Scotland’s radio and television news programmes.
